Small instructions for understanding: You clamp the Drop-D on the 2nd fret: Play a D chord. Normally you should only strike the high 4 strings, but now all 6 strings can be played. Since the Kyser Drop-D is in the second fret, you hear an E chord - the low string is also an E. It sounds like a drop-D tuning! A G chord sounds exactly the same. If you retune, the fingering changes. In drop D tuning, the fingering remains the same, except if you also want to play the low E string, e.g. for an E minor chord, you have to finger the low E string on the same fret as the capo, either below or above.
